We have moved to

Macintosh Shareware site, and thus our site was deleted.
Hopefully this new FreeServers site will work well!

It's our one year anniversary! Not to the day, but The Swing Machine was started about a year ago. Everybody cheer! Wow, we managed to stick around for a year. The site racked up a total of 1,065 hits since May 18, 1998. Thanks to our loyal followers (if we actually have any!)
Extensive updates, including the removal of The Club, removal of the Spanish translation of the main page, accuracy updates for info on the Music page, along with a reorganization of it.

The Dance page now includes a link to some Swing Dance History! This Recent Updates section was demoted to a little bit further down on the page, so the Logbook and Discussion Room features will get some more attention.

A major revision to the About page. Now you can learn the story of The Swing Machine from Jazz-man himself! The Dance page has also been given it's first animated picture that helps explain a dance step. The Forum page has been decomissioned (ie. removed) and it's functions have been moved on to this page. I also updated the Links and Music pages and repaired broken links throughout the site. I feel now that The Swing Machine is being refined and expanded in an intelligent way and will soon be a truly happeningsite!

The old counter was moved to the Misc. place and has now been replaced by a better-looking, local counter from Bon.net. A new Poll has been placed, and the results of our last poll are available on the Poll Results page. Some code in the Sidebar has been removed, hopefully making for faster load-time. Also, check out The Swing Club hosted by Yahoo!

You can now see Main page in Spanish! Do it just for fun or to brush up on your español. The grammar is probably incorrect because it was translated through AltaVista's SYSTRAN.

The "Swing, Swing, Swing (In a Ring)" links, etc., have been relocated from the Misc. page to this page. As you may notice, there are three pages (The Club, Dance, and Misc.) that have basically nothing on them. Well, that's gonna change! It'll just take a little time.

For a while our server was kind of goofed up, but finally I am able to update the page! If you haven't already, fill out the new poll and look at last time's results (see Old Results.) Today I added The Swing Club, the home of a local organization that's just getting started. Soon to have a list of members, bio's, etc.

I added a new page containing the Old Results of previous Swing Machine Polls. Also, since the sidebar contained no button for returning to the main page, clicking on the "SM" logo now does so. Hopefully that will be convenient.

First, a new Swing Machine Poll was added. I am experimenting with a new location for the poll, so hang in there in case it looks bad. And - as always - tell me what you think about it! Second, the title and main section header picture files were updated! All of the pictures are now using a standardized font (Lithograph Light.) Finally, the "Swing Ring" Web Ring page has been deleted.

Finally did fix the "SM" logo on the sidebar. Also deleted the "Internet Jump" button. Should look a lot better. Replaced Chattenooga Choo-Choo in the Archive with a new version by Gary Wachtel.

New navigation bar! Trashed the TrafficX account. Planning to fix the "SM" logo thing in the nav. bar so it doesn't have the weird white fuzzy looking color bordering the letters. Also expanded the left frame to 100 pixels (like you actually care.)

Two big updates were done today. First, the Dance page was added. This is a page designated for information about swing dancing, one of the most exciting things that you'll ever do! Second, an archive of this Recent Updates section is being created on the Old Updates page. Also did some general neatening up of formatting (navigation bar, background color, etc.) Currently trying to perfect the sidebar frame because of some inconsistencies with picture sizes and frame sizes.

Download a recording of part of Benny Goodman's Sing, Sing, Sing! Be warned because it is 826 KB. From now on the Music page will have a section dedicated to audio recordings. These will be in the Windows Wave format.

Swing hits the bigtime!
Hopefully everybody saw the Associated Press article titled "Swing is Thing in U.S. Clubs". Swing is really hitting the mainstream of American culture again. It took fifty years, but people are once again realizing what the hippest type of music and dancing is. Congratulations to us!

Added the "Misc." page. Check it out! It contains access to the "Swing Ring Web Ring", which is newly created. If you want to join then check out the Swing Ring Page. The Swing Machine is preparing to join the "Swing, Swing, Swing (in a Ring)" web ring. Changed the background picture back to the old one. Changed the footers and the Ad at the top. This is one of the biggest updates ever.

Added a "Sequenced by" column to the Music page (thanks to Gary Wachtel.) Added a link to Gary'sMIDI Page on the Music page, and updated all of his MIDI sequences per his request. Activated an Extreme Tracking account, which can be accessed from the small button in the Sidebar. Added a link to the Links page.
